Real-time visualization of your lighting output

Preview Panel

The Preview panel shows a real-time visualization of your lighting output.

Overview

The Preview displays:

  • Fixture colors and intensities
  • Pixel map output
  • 2D or 3D views of your setup

View Modes

2D View

A top-down view of your fixtures:

  • Simple, fast rendering
  • Clear color representation
  • Good for quick work

3D View

A perspective view of your space:

  • Realistic fixture representation
  • Adjustable camera angle
  • Shows physical positions

Toggle between views using the view mode buttons in the panel toolbar.

Fixture Visualization

Fixtures are displayed according to their type:

  • LED Pars - Circular with color fill
  • Moving Heads - Beam direction shown
  • Strips - Linear pixel arrangement
  • Matrices - Grid of pixels

Selection

Click a fixture in the Preview to select it. Hold Shift to select multiple.

Pixel Map Display

Pixel maps appear as their configured shape:

  • Position and scale match your settings
  • Each pixel shows its current color
  • Large maps may be simplified for performance

Toolbar Options

Quality

Adjust preview quality vs. performance:

  • Low - Fastest, simplified
  • Medium - Balanced
  • High - Best quality, more GPU usage

Background

Change the preview background:

  • Dark - Default, easy on eyes
  • Light - Better for some venues
  • Grid - Shows spatial reference

Overlays

Toggle informational overlays:

  • Addresses - Show DMX addresses
  • Names - Show fixture names
  • Grid - Show positioning grid

Performance

For smooth preview with many fixtures:

  1. Reduce quality setting
  2. Disable overlays
  3. Use 2D mode for simpler rendering

Preview performance doesn't affect DMX output quality.

Output Preview

The Preview shows exactly what's being sent to your fixtures. Use it to:

  • Verify effect behavior
  • Check color accuracy
  • Debug addressing issues
  • Test without hardware
