Notepad

A scratch pad for notes that travel with your project.

The Notepad panel is a plain text area filling the whole panel, set in a monospace font so columns of addresses and channel numbers line up. There is no toolbar and no formatting. An empty one reads Note here until you start typing.

Add it from Window > Add panel, the same as any other panel.

One note per project

The note belongs to the project, not to the panel. Open the Notepad in two workspaces and both show the same text. Pop it out into its own window and the text comes with it. Close the panel and nothing is lost; reopening it brings the note back as you left it.

Because the note saves inside the project file, it travels with the show: whoever opens the file next reads what you wrote. Typing marks the project as having unsaved changes, like any other edit, and your text is written a moment after you stop typing.

What to keep in it

Anything you would otherwise scribble on the back of a call sheet:

  • Cue notes and running order reminders
  • Patch quirks, such as a fixture with reversed pan or a dead channel
  • Venue and crew contacts
  • A running to-do list for the show
  • Panels - Docking, popping out, and arranging panels
  • History - What has changed in the project
