Spectralite BPM for TouchDesigner
The CHOP channels and controls of Spectralite BPM for TouchDesigner, a free component for macOS that is coming soon.
Spectralite BPM for TouchDesigner is coming soon. This page describes the component as designed. The supported TouchDesigner builds and licence tiers are listed with the release.
The component tracks the beat of any audio CHOP and writes the result as CHOP channels, so you can use the beat in your network without running a second app.
Input
The component comes with an Audio Device In CHOP wired to its input and a panel with the tempo readout, a beat lamp, ×2, ÷2, Cue Align and an input picker. Connect your own audio CHOP to the input instead to track other audio.
Channels
The CHOP writes one sample per channel on every frame.
| Channel | Meaning |
|---|---|
bpm | The locked tempo, 0 before it locks |
phase | 0 to 1 across each beat |
beat | 1 on the frame a beat falls in, otherwise 0 |
bar | The bar counter |
beat_in_bar | The beat within the bar, from 1 |
confidence | 0 to 1 |
locked | 1 once the tempo is locked, otherwise 0 |
Controls
| Parameter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Start/Stop | Starts and stops listening |
| ×2, ÷2 | Moves the locked tempo an octave |
| Cue Align | Press it on the downbeat to make the nearest beat the first of the bar |
| Reset | Listens afresh |
| Latency offset | Shifts the beat earlier to cover the delay between your audio and your output |
| Tempo range | Limits the tempos the tracker considers |
| Beats per bar | Sets how beat_in_bar and bar count |
