View Art-Net devices on your network

Discovered Clients Panel

The Discovered Clients panel shows Art-Net devices detected on your network.

Device Discovery

Automatic Discovery

Spectralite continuously scans for Art-Net devices:

  • Devices announce themselves via broadcast
  • New devices appear automatically
  • Offline devices are marked as disconnected

Manual Scan

Force a network scan:

  1. Click Refresh in the toolbar
  2. Spectralite sends discovery packets
  3. All responding devices are listed

Device List

Information Shown

Each device displays:

  • Name - Device identifier
  • IP Address - Network address
  • Type - Node, Controller, etc.
  • Ports - Available DMX ports
  • Status - Online/Offline

Status Indicators

  • Green - Online and responding
  • Yellow - Online but not receiving data
  • Red - Offline or error
  • Gray - Disabled

Using Devices

Assign Universe

Route a universe to a device:

  1. Select the device
  2. Click Assign Universe
  3. Choose which universe to send
  4. Select the device port

Quick Setup

For common configurations:

  1. Right-click a device
  2. Select Quick Setup
  3. Choose fixture count and type
  4. Spectralite configures automatically

Device Details

Click a device for more information:

Identity

  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Firmware Version
  • MAC Address

Capabilities

  • Port Count - DMX ports available
  • Port Type - Input or Output
  • Protocol - Art-Net version
  • Features - RDM support, etc.

Network

  • IP Address
  • Subnet Mask
  • Gateway
  • DHCP - Enabled/Disabled

RDM Support

For RDM-capable devices:

Device Discovery

Discover fixtures connected to nodes:

  1. Click Discover RDM
  2. Spectralite queries the node
  3. Connected fixtures are listed

RDM Configuration

Configure fixtures remotely:

  1. Select an RDM fixture
  2. View/edit DMX address
  3. Access fixture-specific settings
  4. Update fixture personality

Network Configuration

Spectralite Network Settings

Configure output interface:

  1. Go to Settings > Network
  2. Select network interface
  3. Set IP address if needed
  4. Configure Art-Net settings

IP Conflicts

If devices conflict:

  • Warning shown in Status
  • Reconfigure device IPs
  • Use different subnets if needed

Troubleshooting

Devices Not Appearing

  1. Check network connection
  2. Verify same subnet
  3. Check firewall settings
  4. Try manual IP entry

No Output to Device

  1. Verify universe assignment
  2. Check device port configuration
  3. Confirm IP routing
  4. Test with device's own software

Intermittent Connection

  1. Check network quality
  2. Verify cable connections
  3. Monitor for packet loss
  4. Consider switch/router capacity

Manual Device Entry

Add devices that don't announce:

  1. Click Add Device
  2. Enter IP address
  3. Configure port count
  4. Device is added manually
