Connect Your Lights
Set up Art-Net and DMX output
Connect Your Lights
Spectralite sends DMX data over Art-Net, the industry-standard protocol for professional lighting. Your fixtures receive data through an Art-Net node connected to your network.
Requirements
- Art-Net node (or fixtures with built-in Art-Net)
- Ethernet connection between your Mac and the node
- Both devices on the same network subnet
Setup
- Connect your Art-Net node to the same network as your Mac
- Art-Net output is enabled by default—no configuration needed
If you have multiple network interfaces, go to Settings > Network and select the interface connected to your lighting network.
Verify Connection
- Patch a fixture with the correct universe and DMX address
- Add an effect layer and raise its opacity
- Your fixture should respond
No output? Check that any master dimmer channels on the fixture are turned up in the Parameters panel.
Troubleshooting
Fixtures not responding?
- Confirm the fixture's DMX address matches what you set in Spectralite
- Check that the universe numbers match between Spectralite and your node
- Verify both devices are on the same subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.x)
- Check that your firewall allows Art-Net traffic (UDP port 6454)
