MIDI Devices Panel

View and configure connected MIDI hardware

MIDI Devices Panel

The MIDI Devices panel shows all detected MIDI devices, their connection status, and lets you assign mappings to each device.

Toolbar

  • Reload devices - Scan for newly connected or disconnected MIDI devices

Device List

Information Shown

Each device displays:

  • Name - Device identifier
  • Status - Online (connected and active) or Offline (not connected)
  • Input - Whether the device supports MIDI input
  • Mapping - The assigned MIDI mapping for this device

Status Indicators

  • Online (green badge) - Device is connected and active
  • Offline (outline badge) - Device is not currently connected

Assigning Mappings

Each device has a dropdown to assign a MIDI mapping:

  1. Find the device in the list
  2. Select a mapping from the dropdown
  3. Choose No mapping to clear the assignment

Mappings are created in the MIDI Map Editor panel. Only mappings that have been created there appear in the dropdown.

Network MIDI

macOS MIDI Network

Connect to network MIDI sessions:

  1. Open Audio MIDI Setup (macOS)
  2. Create or join a MIDI Network session
  3. The session appears in Spectralite as a MIDI device
  4. Assign a mapping like any other device

rtpMIDI (Windows)

Use rtpMIDI for Windows networking:

  1. Install rtpMIDI
  2. Configure sessions
  3. Appears as a MIDI device in Spectralite

Troubleshooting

Device Not Appearing

  1. Check physical connection
  2. Click Reload devices in the toolbar
  3. Disconnect and reconnect the device
  4. Restart Spectralite
  5. Check system MIDI settings

Device Shows as Offline

  1. Verify device is powered on and connected
  2. Click Reload devices to rescan
  3. Check for conflicting applications using the MIDI device
  4. Try a different USB port
